Vice-Principal - Research
The University of Aberdeen seeks to appoint an outstanding senior academic leader as Vice-Principal (Research). This is a pivotal role within the University’s Senior Management Team, reporting to the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, and will shape and deliver the institution’s research strategy in support of our Aberdeen 2040 vision.
The Vice-Principal (Research) will lead all aspects of institutional research strategy and policy, fostering a positive and inclusive research culture and enabling colleagues to deliver world-leading, impactful research. The role includes oversight of research governance, REF preparation, interdisciplinary development, research income growth, and external engagement with funders, government, and strategic partners. The postholder will work closely with fellow Vice-Principals, Deans, Heads of School, and the Director of Research and Innovation to ensure alignment across research, innovation, global engagement, and education.
The successful candidate will have an international reputation for research excellence, a sustained track record of attracting significant competitive funding, substantial senior leadership experience within higher education, and a deep understanding of the UK research landscape.
Salary will be in the range of £130,000–£150,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
