The Trial Manager will support the trial management team, working on trials within the CHaRT portfolio (https://www.abdn.ac.uk/ace/what-we-do/chart/trials-portfolio/).  If appointed at grade 6 you would be responsible for day-to-day management of a clinical trial (or trials); if appointed at grade 7 you would be expected to take the lead trial management role in the delivery of a clinical trial (or trials) within the portfolio.

For appointment at grade 6, you should have experience of clinical trial/project management, ideally within a research environment.  For appointment at grade 7, you should have extensive experience of setting up and/or managing large-scale clinical trials or other health or health services research projects involving the recruitment of participants.

For appointment at grade 6 or 7, you should have the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary research team and with a broad range of people (research and support staff in CHaRT; consultants, nurses and R&D staff at participating NHS centres, Ethics Committees, trial participants, trial funder and sponsor and oversight committee members) to competing and tight deadlines.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are also a requirement for the role. Enthusiasm, diplomacy, tact and persuasiveness are also key attributes essential for this post.  The work may involve travel to various clinical centres within the UK.  You should be able to provide cover for other members of the trial teams when they are absent from the office.

For appointment as Grade 6 Trial Manager, salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, £38,249 - £45,413 per annum, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

For appointment as Grade 7 Trial Manager, salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 scale, £46,735 - £55,755 per annum, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
