The National Decommissioning Centre (NDC) is looking to expand its current team with a Project Delivery Manager to manage and provide technical input to some of the NDC’s large scale priority projects. In addition, you will provide technical support for the Centre Director who is currently scoping and overseeing many of these projects.

This is an exciting new post within the NDC, supporting and managing large scale projects to support the decommissioning sector. The first project for which you will be responsible is managing the manufacture, build and commissioning of a £2m barrier qualification test chamber.  The purpose of this system is to provide developers with a means to test new well plugging and abandonment materials by setting test plugs in a realistic environment.   There will also be opportunities to get involved in other major projects.

In this role you will be responsible for working with the NDC team to develop and manage projects and support academics to ensure timely and effective delivery.  The role will also involve you in engagement with our partner OGTC at an operational level (review and development of projects and reporting).

You will report to Prof Richard Neilson, the Centre Director, and, where appropriate, will work closely with the NDC team including our Business Development Analyst,  our Simulator Technical Manager and the NDC’s Project Delivery Researchers, to assist in the development, scoping and effective delivery of projects.  You will interact extensively with industry and must have good interpersonal and communication skills as well as a high level of technical ability primarily in engineering, however you may need to manage projects in other disciplines.  Ideally you will have a PhD in engineering or a similar subject with experience of dynamic modelling. You should also be able to evidence working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale (£41,526 - £44,045 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

This role is based in the UK and as such the successful candidate will be required to live and work in the UK
