Research Fellow in Computational Biology
Applications are invited for a full-time, fixed-term (48 months) Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Biology jointly based in the laboratories of Drs Eunchai Kang, Daniel Berg and Mike Morgan at the University of Aberdeen. We seek to appoint a creative, highly motivated and collaborative computational biologist to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating human fetal choroid plexus development and its role in early brain development using state-of-the-art single-cell genomics and multi-omics approaches.
This exciting four-year position is funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) through the project "Deciphering Human Fetal Choroid Plexus Development: An Interdisciplinary Approach Across Cellular, Molecular and Functional Dimensions."
The project aims to generate the first comprehensive cellular, molecular and functional atlas of the developing human fetal choroid plexus. Combining uniquely accessible human fetal tissue from the Scottish Advanced Fetal Research Study (SAFeR), advanced single-cell genomics, proteomics, spatial imaging and ex vivo human tissue models, the programme will define how the choroid plexus develops, communicates with the developing brain and responds to maternal immune activation.
The successful candidate will lead the computational analysis of large-scale single-cell and spatial multi-omic datasets, integrating transcriptomic, proteomic and imaging data to reconstruct developmental trajectories, identify cell-cell communication networks and uncover mechanisms regulating human fetal choroid plexus development.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6, £38,784 - £43,482 per annum, pro rata and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
