Procurement Specialist
This role is based within the Finance section of the University, located at the historic Old Aberdeen campus. The postholder will work closely with the Procurement Manager, Finance team, and other senior stakeholders to oversee procurement operations across the institution.
As a key member of the finance team, the postholder will manage a broad range of responsibilities including managing high value/complex procurement, supplier engagement, contract compliance, and value-for-money initiatives. The role offers a dynamic and varied workload, with regular interaction across departments and with external partners, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, detail-oriented, and fast-paced environment.
The main purpose of the role is to provide professional and executive procurement support to a broad range of academic researchers, senior stakeholders, administrators and technical staff. To maximise the return on research grants and revenue spend in terms of improved facilities, research and teaching & learning outcomes, and reinforces the University’s world-class status as a research-led institution. To manage end-to-end major equipment, works, goods and services procurements; conduct detailed spend analyses; to identify, create and deliver strategic opportunities that will improve value; and to apply best practice supplier relationship and contract management techniques.
With demonstrable high-level experience in HEFE procurement the Procurement Specialist will join a small team which provides tendering and contract services to the University and provides local management of collaborative agreements.
We are seeking a qualified, experienced procurement professional to provide guidance through these changes and, as such, the successful candidate will be educated to degree level, possess a CIPS level 6 professional Diploma (MCIPS) and possess extensive expertise in higher education procurement. They will have comprehensive sector knowledge and experience of managing complex high value procurement procedures. A proven ability to think strategically and contribute to both operational and strategic planning is essential.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 Salary Scale, £46,735 - £55,755 with placement according to qualifications and experience.
