Lecturer in Mathematics
The School of Natural and Computing Sciences is looking to appoint a full-time staff member at Lecturer level in Mathematics to, initially, teach introductory maths courses on our launch programmes in Computing Science and Data Science and our Mathematics degree in year 2. Once the degrees programmes become more established, teaching duties may change to more advanced courses. The expectation is that all teaching is carried out in India over the course of one semester, with additional student project supervision from either India or Aberdeen. The post will be a teaching and research (T&R) position with the successful candidate expected to develop a high-quality programme of research. Research topics will not be limited to pure mathematics, with areas that align with our institutional interdisciplinary themes, or with areas such as financial mathematics linked to collaborative opportunities in Mumbai also of interest.
We look to appoint academics who understand and have experience of delivering teaching to and assessing international students, especially Indian students. We are seeking to appoint someone who is ready to join an ambitious school and take on responsibility for a growing curriculum. The successful candidate will take responsibility for degree programme design, the quality assurance delivery and assessment of courses on the programme and liaising with academic and admin colleagues in Aberdeen and Mumbai Campus. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute research outputs in mathematics appropriate to our planned Research Excellence Framework submission.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 7, £47,389 - £56,535 per annum with placement according to qualifications and experience.
