Development Officer (Maternity Cover)
The Directorate of Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) works to help secure philanthropic support for the University of Aberdeen. Established almost 40 years ago, our development programme is a mature and successful operation that raises approximately £6M annually in major gifts and legacies.
We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional to join our team in the role of Development Officer. This post is to provide maternity cover for a fixed period for 12 months and part-time (80%, 30 hours per week), but fewer hours may be negotiable. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the Development Officer will join a team of five major gift officers who work across our key philanthropic income streams: individuals, trusts and foundations, corporates, and legacies. The Development Officer will be responsible for contributing to the University’s major gift programme, securing major gifts for priority projects and developing high-level fundraising relationships with colleagues across the University to meet significant income targets.
The successful candidate will ideally be a fundraising professional or an individual with direct experience of income generation in Higher Education or similar organisations and will be responsible for managing a portfolio of up to 100 major gift prospects from cultivation through to stewardship.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 Salary Scale, £38,249 - £45,413 per annum pro rata with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Informal enquiries should be made to Katrina Allan, Head of Alumni Relations & Regular Giving and Interim Head of Philanthropy, at katrina.allan@abdn.ac.uk.
Prior to employment, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
