AFG College with the University of Aberdeen is an established and exciting higher education partnership forged in 2017. The partnership has created the first UK University in the State of Qatar offering mainstream degrees outside of Qatar Foundation. We celebrated our first cohort of graduates in 2019 and have seen significant growth in student numbers. AFG College has three Schools: the School of Business and Law, the School of Computing and Technology and the School of Health Sciences. The Dean of the School of Business and Law will perform a critical role within AFG College ensuring that the quality standards defined by the University of Aberdeen are developed and maintained. The Dean will lead on developing the undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education developments for AFG College in partnership with the University of Aberdeen. The Dean will take the leading role in driving the School forward, supporting AFG College’s mission and strategic objectives, and taking a leadership role in engaging with industry and professional bodies in the region.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
- To provide outstanding leadership, managing the Schools human and physical resources,
- To grow the School to a financially sustainable size while maintaining an excellent reputation,
- Take a lead in ensuring the maintenance of academic quality and standards as defined by the University of Aberdeen, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and professional accrediting bodies,
- To ensure the provision of an exceptional student experience for all students,
- To facilitate and contribute to the research culture of the School and AFG College, and
- Promote the active engagement of staff with all the University’s stakeholders including public bodies, industry, schools, alumni and the wider community
