SUSTAIN is a £10.6m UKRI-funded Centre for Doctoral Training led by the University of Lincoln in partnership with the University of Aberdeen, Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Strathclyde.  The Centre will train 60 PhD students across five annual cohorts, with 15 students based at each partner institution.

Working as part of the PGRC Studentships Team, you will provide high-quality administrative support for the delivery of SUSTAIN activities at the University of Aberdeen. You will work closely with the Aberdeen Co-Director, the CDT Project Manager and Administration Coordinators across the partner institutions, as well as academic colleagues, professional service teams, external partners and postgraduate researchers.

This is a varied role involving the administration of student recruitment and ongoing student activities, maintenance of accurate project and student records, collation of data and information for UKRI and programme reporting, financial administration, organisation of meetings, training and cohort activities, placements and internships, and communications with students and programme stakeholders.

You will act as an important point of contact for Aberdeen-based SUSTAIN students and colleagues, responding to enquiries and providing information and guidance on relevant processes and procedures. You will also support the coordination of activities across the partnership, ensuring that information is communicated effectively and that local activities are delivered in accordance with agreed programme timescales and procedures.

You will have experience of working in a busy administrative environment and excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. You will be able to plan and prioritise your own workload, manage competing deadlines and produce accurate work with close attention to detail.  You will be confident in using a range of IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications, and comfortable working with data and financial information.

The ability to work independently and use initiative within established procedures is important, as is the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different teams and organisations. Experience of higher education, postgraduate research administration, project administration or externally funded programmes would be an advantage, although training in the specific requirements of CDT and UKRI funding will be provided.

This post is available on a part-time basis at 0.5 FTE and is fixed term for the duration of the grant, ending on 31 October 2031.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 4 £28,763 - £31,861 per annum, pro rata, with placement according to qualifications and experience. This successful candidate will be required to live and work in the UK.
